Snooth launches powerful Wine Professionals Interface

Posted by Carly on under Press, Snooth | Be the First to Comment

New York, NY (April 29, 2010) — Snooth, the world’s largest wine site, has officially launched its Wine Professionals Interface, a revolutionary new way for wineries to manage product listings that reach over 10 million potential customers.

Wineries and retailers can use the new interface to add, edit, and verify product data that appears to Snooth.com’s one million unique monthly visitors, and to an additional audience of 9 million through the company’s third-party widgets, offered by partners such as Time, Inc, Yahoo, and Conde Nast.

Once a winery has validated a listing, the product’s page on Snooth will be marked with a “verified” tag, alerting visitors that the information is complete and up-to-date. In addition, these winery-verified listings will be given extra prominence on Snooth for people searching and browsing for wines.

“It’s been our goal since day one to provide a powerful platform for winemakers to interact with our users,” said Philip James, founder and CEO of Snooth. “Now, from one location, these business owners can fully control their Snooth content, and seamlessly communicate with fans, followers, and millions of potential customers.”

The Wine Professionals Interface enables wineries and merchants to control the quality and consistency of their product data through one comprehensive form.

“The great thing about user-generated info is that you have all of these people recommending your wine and sharing their experiences with it,” said Lisa Mattson, Communications Director at Jordan Winery. “But it’s important that wineries have an opportunity to ensure that the info people are sharing is accurate. This is a user-friendly way for wineries to make sure their listings and labels are correct, which makes it easier for consumers to find, review, and recommend their products.”

Since its inception in June 2007, Snooth has grown to be the world’s largest wine database and online community, with over 1 million wines and prices from 11,000 merchants and wineries worldwide. The site currently handles over 5 million searches per month and has over 400,000 registered users.

About Snooth

Snooth is the world’s largest wine site, with over 1 million monthly users. Launched in June 2007, Snooth is a free, highly interactive, social database of the world’s wines, offering casual and expert wine drinkers the ability to search, obtain personalized recommendations, interact with fellow wine lovers, and seamlessly buy from a global network of over 11,000 merchants.

Designed to be intuitive and fun, users have the ability to search by their own personal preferences (bold, peppery, fruity, etc), by a specific meal-pairing, price, region or producer. Snooth’s recommendation engine also provides customized selections based on stated preferences and user feedback. The more information a user gives on wines they enjoy, the more personalized and detailed the recommendations become.

Snooth’s massive database of 1 million wines and 2 million reviews powers many third-party wine applications — reaching a total audience of over 10 million users per month — and functions as a central repository of wine data. Snooth is also available on-the-go through its mobile or iPhone applications.

Snooth is a multi-award winning site, including the Model of Excellence by InfoCommerce in 2008, and is the recipient of multiple medals from the Wine 2.0 trade organization. Snooth has garnered much press within the tech, wine and food spaces from publications including Forbes, Oprah, Techcrunch, Mashable, the Guardian, and many others.

Snooth’s team is comprised of experts in data management, user experience, and wine. Snooth’s advisors and investors include past and current management of Blue Fly, Price Grabber, Experian, Quigo, Inertia Beverage Group, and Global Wines and Spirits amongst others.
